After reading the B.C. Post-Secondary Digital Literacy Framework, I now have a better understanding on the purpose of digital literacy in post-secondary learning. Before reading this text I had little knowledge on the concept of digital literacy, however now I its definition and purpose is more clear to me. As expressed in the text, digital literacy is a valuable tool to have and especially in today’s world. Living in this modern day and going to school where technology is vital has drastically improved my digital literacy and I am confident that I can express myself digitally while being ethically and effective. I believe this framework is truly helpful at being inclusive, accessible, and supportive to guide students from post-secondary to the workplace after graduation. As a student who intends to enter the workforce in a couple of years, I appreciate the exposure to this framework which I will carry in my next life adventure after UVic! Now that I have read this text and have studied at UVic for two years, I can confidently say that UVic has done a great job at adapting this framework and developing digital literacy tools. From Crowdmark, Worldpress and Brightspace to access to various media tools, UVic provides so many opportunities for students to develop their digital literacy. The University of Victoria’s Digital Learning Plan highlights UVic’s goals to help students and staff gain the competencies to engage ethacally and reasonabilly in digital spaces.

I am greatful to have access to all these digital services and the support from the University to develop my digital literacy. As the text suggests, this framework will help me become more ethical, better at technology, improve my critical thinking, communicate and collaborate better with others in digital spaces, create accessful digital media, and use technology in ways that support my well-being.
